About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) conducted a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study to evaluate alternatives for widening approximately 8 miles of U.S. 301 (State Road (S.R.) 35) from County Road (C.R.) 470 to S.R. 44 in Sumter County.

The initial PD&E Study was completed in 2019, and the project was advanced to design in two segments:

  • FPID No. 430132-2 will add lanes and reconstruct U.S. 301 from C.R. 470 to Industrial Park Drive (formerly C.R. 525E).
  • FPID No. 430132-3 will add lanes and reconstruct U.S. 301 from Industrial Park Drive to Florida's Turnpike, including rerouting a portion of U.S. 301 around the City of Coleman.

The Department is currently updating environmental reports to reflect changes in existing conditions since the initial PD&E Study was completed.
