About
The purpose of this project is to enhance safety by converting the full median opening on South Ridgewood Avenue (U.S. 1) and Marion Avenue in Edgewater, Volusia County, to a two-way directional median opening. These improvements will enhance access control, traffic flow, and reduce the possibility of crashes.
These proposed improvements will continue to allow U-turns for both northbound and southbound traffic on South Ridgewood Avenue. Northbound traffic will be able to turn left onto W. Marion Avenue. Southbound traffic will also be able to turn left onto E. Marion Avenue. Right turns will only be possible from Marion Avenue onto South Ridgewood Avenue. New pavement markings and signage will be installed to direct drivers.
07/19/2024 Project Update:
After further study of the intersection, the Department found that changing the full median opening at South Ridgewood Avenue and Marion Avenue to a two-way directional median opening will enhance safety, access control, traffic flow, and reduce the possibility of crashes. Therefore, FDOT has concluded that the best course of action is to proceed with the design as proposed. Design plans for these improvements are progressing, and construction is expected to commence in 2025.
