About

07/19/2024 Status Update: The Department plans to proceed with a new project to build a northbound U-turn lane south of Dalton Drive. The project will also prohibit U-turns at Dalton Drive.

05/23/2024 Status Update: Based on feedback and comments received via the public meeting process, The Department is re-evaluating the proposed safety improvements.

The purpose of this project is to enhance safety by converting the full median opening on Alafaya Trail (State Road (S.R.) 434) at Dalton Drive in Oviedo, Seminole County, to a two-way directional median opening. These improvements will enhance access control, traffic flow, and reduce the possibility of crashes.

These proposed improvements will continue to allow U-turns for both northbound and southbound traffic on Alafaya Trail. Northbound traffic will also be able to turn left onto Dalton Drive. Right turns will only be possible from Dalton Drive onto Alafaya Trail. New pavement markings and signage will be installed to direct drivers.

A public information meeting about this project was held February 22, 2023. Please see the public meeting information in the files below.
