The purpose of this project is to maintain a safe and reliable roadway surface by replacing the existing asphalt along U.S. 1 (State Road (S.R.) 5)) in Bunnell. An exception within the project limits is the intersection of U.S. 1 and S.R. 11, which is being improved under a separate project.

In addition to repaving the roadway, the project proposes to evaluate and upgrade pedestrian curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
