The purpose of this project is to repave State Road (S.R.) 40 from Railroad Avenue to S.R. 11 in Volusia County to extend the life of the roadway. Safety improvements are also planned, including:

• Place intersection warning signs near Chesser Hammock Road.
• Install raised reflective pavement markings on the outside edge of curves.
• Install rumble striping along the center line and outside lane markings;
• Install speed feedback signs near curves to alert drivers to slow down.
• Install no parking signs on the westbound shoulder around the Volusia County Speedway.
• Install chevron signs along curves to increase awareness of the curves, and
• Install "No Passing Zone" pavement markings along with No Passing Zone signs in advance of the Volusia County Speedway.
