The purpose of this project is to repave State Road (S.R.) 40 U.S. 17 to S.R. 11 in Volusia County to extend the life of the roadway. The project also includes safety improvements, including:

• Place intersection warning signs near Chesser Hammock Road.
• Install audible vibratory striping along the outside lane markings;
• Install no parking signs on the westbound shoulder around the Volusia County Speedway.
• Install chevron signs along curves to increase awareness of the curves, and
• Install "No Passing Zone" pavement markings along with No Passing Zone signs in advance of the Volusia County Speedway.

Additionally, the project will update the traffic signal at the intersection of S.R. 40 and U.S. 17 to add a protected/permissive left turn arrow for traffic traveling from southbound U.S. 17 to eastbound S.R. 40.
