The purpose of this project is to enhance pedestrian safety along State Road (S.R.) A1A in Daytona Beach and Daytona Beach Shores. The project will install two new midblock crossings with pedestrian activated signals called Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons at Sea Spray Street/Andrianopoulos Park and near Browning Avenue. Plans also call for upgrading the other seven existing pedestrian crossings by adding in-road lighting and overhead lighting. 

This project is being constructed with a resurfacing project that extends from U.S. 1 (Ridgewood Avenue) to Davis Street (FPID No. 450666-1).

The FDOT will hold a project open house on Thursday, February 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Shores Community Center, 3000 Bellemead Dr., Daytona Beach Shores, FL 32118. Attendees will have an opportunity to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members, and submit comments or questions. The open house will cover both projects 450666-1 and 450666-2.

To provide additional flexibility for stakeholders, the FDOT is also offering online opportunities to get involved:

• View the open house presentation and related exhibits on this website beginning February 13 and send comments or questions to the project manager using the link on the right side of this page. Materials will be located in the files below and will be the same as what will be shared at the in-person open house. While the information will remain on the website throughout the project, please provide comments or questions by Monday, February 24, 2025, to have the comments included in the open house record.
