About

This project proposes operational and safety improvements along Woodland Boulevard (U.S. 17-92) from Taylor Road (State Road (S.R.) 15A) to Beresford Avenue in DeLand.

Planned safety enhancements include adding bicycle lanes on both sides of the roadway, generally near the existing 5-foot-wide sidewalk and separated from the travel lanes by a grassed buffer. The project also would construct some new sidewalk to fill gaps and provide new midblock crossings equipped with pedestrian activated signals known as Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHBs), which display a red signal to stop traffic when a pedestrian is ready to cross. To enhance safety for drivers, five existing median openings would be closed and three other openings would be converted to directional medians. The proposed median closures would be at Gilbert Street, Mansfield Street, Calvin Street and Carrol Avenue. Directional medians would be constructed at Chipola Avenue, Andover Street, Vermont Avenue and Lisbon Parkway.

This project is not yet funded for construction.
