About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is installing operational and safety improvements along State Road (S.R.) 416 (Silver Star Road) from S.R. 438 (Princeton Street) to U.S. 441 (Orange Blossom Trail). In addition to repaving the roadway, the project will install a raised traffic separator east of the S.R. 423 (John Young Parkway) intersection. Concrete traffic islands will also be built at Hansrob Road and the Wawa driveway to limit left turns onto Silver Star Road from these locations. Traffic and pedestrian signal upgrades are planned at key intersections, including Princeton Street, Eunice Avenue, and Mercy Drive. The project will improve safety and accessibility by filling sideway gaps for pedestrians, enhancing connectivity along the paved shoulders for bicyclists, installing bus stops, and reconstructing curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Lighting improvements at signalized crosswalks, new signage, and pavement markings are also included.

Lane Closures

  • Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Motorists should expect a right shoulder and partial driveway closure on State Road 416 about 200 feet west of the Florida Central Railroad tracks. Crews will remove the existing driveway and widen both the roadway and the driveway. For safety, there may be a possible lane shift.   • Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Motorists should expect a right shoulder and driveway closure on State Road 416, also known as Silver Star Road, between 400 and 600 feet west of the Eunice intersection on the south side of Silver Star Road. For safety, there may be a possible lane shift. Crews will remove the existing driveway and widen both the roadway and driveway. The Florida Department of Transportation urges all roadway users to drive, walk and bike with caution and courtesy.

  • Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.: Motorists should expect a right shoulder and full driveway closure on State Road 416, Silver Star Road, about 200 feet west of John Young Parkway. Crews will remove the existing driveway and widen both the roadway and the driveway.
