The purpose of this project is to repave Pineda Causeway (State Road (S.R.) 404) from U.S. 1 to S.R. A1A in Merritt Island. The interchange ramps at U.S. 1, County Road (C.R.) 3 (South Tropical Trail), and S.R. 513 (S. Patrick Drive) are included within the resurfacing limits.

Other improvements include rebuilding the existing traffic signal with new mast arm poles at the intersection of S.R. 404 and S.R. A1A. The project proposes to add wrong way detection on the ramps that don’t already have the technology, as well as adding bike lanes next to the right turn lane (keyhole lane) at the S.R. A1A intersection and updating the pavement markings for the bike lanes.
