About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is making operational and safety improvements along North Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 441) from Wadsworth Road to the Lake County line between Apopka and Mount Dora. This project includes resurfacing the roadway to extend its service life and several other significant changes to increase pedestrian and motorist safety.

A key component of the project is reconfiguring the intersection at North Orange Blossom Trail and County Road (C.R.) 500A (Old Highway 441). The current skewed alignment will be corrected by realigning C.R. 500A into a conventional T-intersection. This adjustment will help slow down northbound left-turning vehicles, improve sight distance, and eliminate right-of-way confusion between left-turning lanes. This design will also support future growth in the area.

This project also includes bicycle and pedestrian safety enhancements. Specifically, bicycle keyholes will be added at right turn lanes along the corridor, providing a safer transition for cyclists. For pedestrians, the project will introduce high-visibility crosswalk markings, enhanced lighting, pedestrian refuges, and new pedestrian signals at Stoneybrook Hills Parkway. Additionally, new sidewalk connections will link LakeXpress bus stops on North Orange Blossom Trail to the shared-use path on Stoneybrook Hills Parkway, improving accessibility for public transit users.
