About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is enhancing safety and operations at the intersection of State Road (S.R.) 436 and S.R. 434. The project includes upgrading the traffic signal system with new mast arm signal poles, removing free-flow right-turn lanes, and placing all turning movements under signal control. Additional improvements include upgraded pedestrian crosswalks, signals, and widened turn lanes, supporting FDOT’s broader initiative to improve roadway accessibility for all modes of transportation.
During construction, motorists should expect occasional lane closures at varying times throughout the project corridor. For work taking place within 600 feet of a signalized intersection, single lane closures will be limited to the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Outside of these areas, single lane closures may occur at any time. Double lane closures, however, will only take place between 8:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. when outside the limits of a signalized intersection. Additionally, low-profile barrier walls may be installed, leading to slight adjustments in lane widths, and pedestrian detours will be clearly marked with signage to ensure safety around the work zones.

Lane Closures
-
Monday, February 17 to Friday, March 14: Motorists should anticipate continuous lane closures in the southbound outside and right turn lanes of State Road (S.R.) 434 from Cape Cod Lane to State Road (S.R.) 436 (Altamonte Drive). These closures are being done to make way for crews as they work to widen the turn lane, relocate a bus stop, and install new traffic signals.
FDOT encourages all roadway users to drive, walk and ride with caution and courtesy!
