About

The purpose of this project is to resurface the section of U.S. 1 (State Road 5) from north of Century Oaks Circle to north of Myers Drive to enhance mobility and safety along the corridor.

To enhance safety and mobility, FDOT proposes installing a pedestrian activated signal called a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) at the existing crosswalk at the Yellow Dog Café. The project also plans to add intersection lighting for existing pedestrian crosswalks at signalized intersections along the corridor and reconstruct pedestrian curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.

Other safety enhancements include narrowing the travel lanes to provide wider paved shoulders for bicyclists and adding bicycle keyholes at right turn lanes to enhance bicycle safety.
