About
The purpose of this planning study is to evaluate the future needs of the State Road (S.R.) 535 corridor from U.S. 192 to Vineland Road, a distance of approximately 3.5 miles. As shown on the project location map provided on this page, the study area is located within both Orange and Osceola counties.
The purpose of the planning study is to develop and evaluate a wide-range of transportation improvements. These options include, but are not limited to, roadway widening, bicycle and pedestrian enhancements, safety improvements and other improvements based on existing and future traffic volumes. The study will include a group of local officials, business owners and other interested parties known as a Project Visioning Team (PVT) that will help guide the direction of the study. In addition to the PVT, a series of public meetings will be held, and several smaller, one on one meetings will occur with various stakeholders.
The planning study, the first phase of the project, is anticipated to be complete in late 2017 or early 2018. The project would then move into the next phase of development known as a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study, which is anticipated to begin in late 2019. Currently, design, right of way and construction are not funded in the Florida Department of Transportation's Five Year Work Program.
