About

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will rehabilitate approximately 12 miles of State Road (S.R.) 19 from S.R. 50 to West Oleander Avenue in Lake County, a stretch that connects Groveland to Howey-in-the-Hills. These improvements will enhance safety and operations for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

In addition to milling and resurfacing the existing roadway, this project will widen S.R. 19 at County Road (C.R.) 478 (Cherry Lake Road) to create a new southbound left turn lane, make drainage adjustments throughout the project, and widen existing shoulders at the U.S. 27 (S.R. 25) off-ramp. Bicycle lanes will be provided as paved shoulders and five-foot unmarked keyholes will be added to right-turn lanes.

Sidewalk curb ramps will be reconstructed to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Bridge safety improvements will be made at the U.S. 27 and Florida's Turnpike overpasses.

As part of an adjacent project (448876-1), sidewalk improvements are planned from South Florida Avenue to East Lakeview Avenue in Howey-in-the-Hills.
