SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists are advised that nightly lane closures on Interstate 75 (I-75) northbound, from County Road (C.R.) 462 to C.R. 475 in Sumter County, will take place April 6-10 (Sunday through Thursday nights) and again on April 13-17 (Sunday through Thursday nights). Single-lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following morning, while double-lane closures will be in place from 10 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following morning. The nightly closures allow for lane striping work and are part of the larger I-75 auxiliary lane project now underway.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is advancing much-needed improvements to Interstate 75 (I-75) in Central Florida, thanks to the historic Moving Florida Forward Infrastructure Initiative (fdot.gov/movingfloridaforward). The I-75 Improvement projects are located between State Road (S.R.) 44 in Sumter County and S.R. 326 in Marion County, approximately 30 miles.

The improvements include the addition of an auxiliary lane in each direction and interchange improvements at S.R. 326 and S.R. 40. Auxiliary lanes are ramp-to-ramp connections on the highway that reduce congestion by giving drivers more space and time to merge safely. The I-75 Improvement projects will address the need for better reliability along the corridor.

FDOT advises all motorists to reduce their speed, follow posted signage, and exercise extra caution in construction work zones. Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
