MELBOURNE, Fla. – Motorists are advised that East Melbourne Avenue under the U.S. 1 (South Harbor City Boulevard) bridge in Melbourne will be closed in both directions starting as soon as 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, to allow for repairs to the U.S. 1 bridge. The southbound outside lane on the U.S. 1 bridge will also be closed while the repairs take place.

The following detour will be in place for East Melbourne Avenue:

• Motorists wishing to travel eastbound on East Melbourne Avenue will be directed to head north on Melbourne Court, turn right onto East New Haven Avenue, and turn right onto Front Street to access East Melbourne Avenue.
• Motorists wishing to travel westbound on East Melbourne Avenue will be directed to head north on Front Street, turn left onto East New Haven Avenue, and turn left onto Melbourne Court to access East Melbourne Avenue

These repairs are expected to take up to two weeks.

FDOT reminds motorists to reduce their speed, follow all posted signage, and exercise extra caution in the work zone. Schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
