Upcoming Open House for U.S. 1 (Ridgewood Avenue) Improvements
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Drive along U.S. 1 (Ridgewood Avenue) in Daytona Beach and you are likely to notice a lot of pedestrians and bicyclists. Chances are you may have even witnessed people dashing across the lanes of traffic trying to avoid getting hit, or, worse, a crash.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) wants to make a stretch of U.S. 1 from Beville Road (State Road 400) to north of Fairview Avenue a little safer by adding new pedestrian crossings and bicycle lanes as part of a resurfacing project.
The Department is providing an opportunity to learn more about the proposed changes and provide comments at a project open house on Wednesday, February 12, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The in-person open house will be held at the News-Journal Center at Daytona State College, 221 N. Beach St., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Attendees will be able to view a looping presentation and project displays, speak with project team members, and submit comments or questions.
To provide additional flexibility for stakeholders, the FDOT is also offering online opportunities to get involved:
· Join an online webinar at 5:30 p.m. to watch a project presentation and submit written questions or comments using the webinar questions box. To attend using this option, register at https://fdot.cc/US_1_Improvements. Please make sure to provide adequate time to log in to view the presentation in its entirety.
· Visit the project website at your convenience at www.cflroads.com/project/450782-1. Visitors to the page may watch the project presentation, view project exhibits, and submit comments and questions directly to the project manager. Project materials will be available beginning Wednesday, February 12, and will be the same as what will be shared at the in-person open house. While the information will remain on the website throughout the project, please provide comments or questions by February 24, 2025, to have the comments included in the open house record.
