VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is partnering with industry leaders to host Central Florida Construction Career Days (CCD) on Thursday, January 30, and Friday, January 31.

Drawing participation from 45 high schools across Brevard, Volusia, Marion, Lake, Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Sumter counties, this event serves as a gateway for thousands of students to explore careers and trade schools in the continually expanding construction, engineering, and transportation industries.

The two-day event will be held at the Volusia County Fairgrounds in DeLand. A key feature is hands-on experience offered through 44 Learning Labs. These labs span various facets of construction and engineering, from robotics to bridge design and more. Students will have the unique opportunity to test drive a diverse array of heavy equipment — such as mini excavators and skid steers — and engage with industry professionals including engineers, inspectors, and field staff. In a first for this event, attendees will also be able to explore simulators that provide a firsthand look at operating a concrete truck, asphalt paving equipment, and even a crane.

Date: Thursday and Friday, January 30 and 31

Location: Volusia County Fairgrounds, 3150 E. New York Avenue, DeLand, FL 32724

Media Coverage Opportunities: Media representatives are invited to cover this event on Thursday, January 30, and Friday, January 31, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Upon arrival, please check in with a committee member wearing a gray CCD logo shirt.
