Traffic Advisory: I-95 Rest Area to Close in Brevard County
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Beginning Friday, September 6, the southbound Interstate 95 (I-95) rest area at mile marker 227 in Brevard County will close to the public to accommodate the construction of a new facility.
The new rest area will expand truck parking from 33 spaces to 79 spaces. This additional parking serves a critical need for freight traffic, which is essential to Florida’s growth and economy.
Additional improvements include building a fenced-in pet area, adding infrastructure for future electric vehicle charging stations, and incorporating real-time traffic and safety information via monitors in the rest area breezeway.
The rest area is expected to reopen in spring 2025. Please note that the work schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. The next southbound rest stop is 58 miles south of the closed facility at mile marker 169 between State Road 514 and St. Johns Heritage Parkway in south Brevard County.
To accommodate construction activities, intermittent daytime and nighttime lane closures on I-95 will begin on Monday, September 9. Please follow posted signage, avoid distractions, and pay close attention when driving through the construction zone.
Lane closures and project updates will be posted on the project webpage at www.cflroads.com/project/438478-1.
