KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) advises motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians of an extended road closure of East Park Street between Lawrence Silas Boulevard and North Brack Street in Kissimmee to allow for construction at the railroad crossing. The closure will begin as early as Wednesday, June 5, and continue through early September.

Access to all residences on East Park Street will be maintained with local traffic only. Sidewalks on East Park Street will be closed during the project.

Detours will be in place. Travelers heading east on East Park Street should turn right on North Brack Street, left onto North Main Street, then left on Neptune Road to get to Lawrence Silas Boulevard. Those on Lawrence Silas who wish to travel west on East Park Street should detour to Neptune Road, right on North Main Street, and right on North Brack Street to return to East Park Street.

Work will be done around the clock to allow SunRail, Amtrak, and freight service to be maintained during construction. Nearby residents should expect additional train horns during the construction activity due to federal regulations requiring train horns to sound as a safety measure to alert construction crews of an approaching train.

The timing of the closures is subject to change pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please follow posted signage, avoid distractions, and allow extra travel time to reach your destination.
