DELAND, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) advises motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians of a road closure at the railroad crossing on Old New York Avenue (County Highway 4110) for track realignment and associated paving. The closure will begin in the evening of Friday, May 17, and continue through the morning of Monday, May 20.

There will be a detour and detour signage in place. Travelers heading east on Old New York Avenue should turn left at Fair Street, then left on Carlis Road to turn right on State Road (S.R.) 44 (New York Avenue West) before turning right on South Grand Avenue, which will lead back to Old New York Avenue.

For those traveling west on Old New York Avenue, turn right on South Grand Avenue to turn left on S.R. 44, then left on Carlis Road, and left on Fair Street to return to Old New York Avenue.

In addition, Alexander Drive will be closed at the railroad crossing overnight on Saturday, May 18, and reopen Sunday, May 19. During the closure, crews will remove and reinstall the drainage pipe under the roadway. Residents of Alexander Drive will be allowed to park on the east side of the crossing for the night, if needed.

The timing of these closures is subject to change pending weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Please follow posted signage, avoid distractions, and allow extra travel time to reach your destination.
