About
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is proposing safety improvements on State Road (S.R.) A1A from south of Hayes Avenue/Lunar Avenue to north of Johnson Avenue/Cocoa Palms Drive and from Taylor Avenue to Tyler Avenue in Cape Canaveral.
Proposed improvements include installing a raised concrete pedestrian refuge island within the painted median on S.R. A1A at Grant Avenue and converting a small portion of the two-way turn lane on S.R. A1A at Taylor Avenue and at Polk Avenue to a raised pedestrian refuge.
In both project areas, pedestrian warning signs with flashing beacons will be installed on S.R. A1A before the proposed medians to alert drivers of the possibility of pedestrians and encourage safer driving speeds.
